Detailing

Once a project is secured the detailing process begins. The detailers' role is to take the design drawings and create component drawings that can be interpreted by the workshop staff. Red Steel has in-house detailers using Tekla Steel Detailing software.

Fabrication

Fabrication is the process used to manufacture steelwork components that will, when assembled and joined, form a complete structure. Using steel sections sourced from local steel merchants and working from the detail drawings components are cut, drilled and welded into transportable components. Each component has a unique number and is marked for easy identification.

Surface Protection

While Red Steel has a small painting facility the majority of surface protection is done by Napier Sandblasting - a specialist industrial painting company with the capacity, experience and quality control required to apply coatings to our fabricated product.

Steel Erection

Components are transported to site for erection by one of our site teams. We own and operate a modern fleet of site vehicles, cranes, truck cranes and access platforms. We practise safe working habits and will never skimp on resources or equipment to take short cuts.

Design Advice

Red Steel staff are always available to offer advice when you are considering a project in steel. Drawing on the knowledge gained through previous projects we can assess your design and highlight factors that will influence the final cost, offering alternatives where appropriate. To ensure steel is the material of choice it needs to be designed in the most cost competitive way possible and our assistance in the early stages of design helps achieve this objective.
